Kona. A Different Take on Survival

Let me start with this. The fear of getting lost in the woods during a blizzard is a terrifying thought for me. So, a few months back, when I first heard of Kona, I knew that the game would be good. From the fact that the main creature in this is the Wendigo, or the fact that it can control the weather, I was terrified playing through the demo.

The game was successfully KickStarted in September, and I have to say, the work they put in the demo you can get on the KickStarter page, and the fact that I was actually scared playing it, expecting the Wendigo to pop out, due in part to seeing evidence of it around, and also the fact the whole area is deserted. The demo set the mood for the game, which should be releasing any time (The developers have not given much info on the first part's release, but have said it will be in mid 2015).

If you are curious, my channel has a Let's Play of the demo (Pardon the stuttering and the crap audio, computer at the time was dying.)

All in all, this is a game that you should keep your eyes on. Follow them on Facebook and check out the Kickstarter Page for more info. Thank you for viewing and see you in the next one.

Horror Game Releases for February 2015

2015 is the year of the horror game. There are so many coming out this year that I want to do a month by month thing, telling all the games coming out of the wood work for the horror genre.

Lucius 2: The Prophecy

The pint size Omen inspired killer is back in the next installment in the Lucius series. We can expect everyone who dares to get into the way of this kid to meet a horrible and grisly death at the hands of this little guy.

Release Date: February 13th

Resident Evil Revelations 2: Episode 1

The follow up to one of the best Resident Evil games in recent memory is coming out in a episodic nature. This game is to see the return of series favorite Barry and will hopefully show that the Resident Evil series is still capable of being scary

Episode 1 Release Date: (PSN) February 24th (Everything Else) February 25th

The Order: 1866

Steam punk inspired monster hunting game The Order: 1866 comes out this month. If the thought of killing monsters in a steam punk version of Victorian- era London sounds amazing to you, this game is going to amazing you with design and the horror of the monsters.

Release Date: (PS4) February 20th

Hektor

I found out about this game a month back, and the premise is amazing. You are a test subject in a facility under Greenland, and you try to escape from something in a procedurally generated labyrinth while being chased by something. The horror seems real due to each time, you do not know where to go, and you have something chasing you each step of the way.

That is the main horror releases that I have found for this month. Thank you for reading and I will see you in the next one.

The Director of The Grudge Partners With Clock Tower Creator To Make a New Horror Game

Hifumi Kono, the maker of the cult classic, and one of the earliest survival horror games, Clock Tower, has partnered with Takashi Shimizu, best known for his adaptation of his horror movie The Grudge, a adaptation of his other movie Ju-on, to start a KickStarter for a new horror game named Project Scissors: NightCry.

The KickStarter has a goal of $300,000 and is being handled by Japanese studio Nude Maker. The studio has staff that has worked on Silent Hill, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania, and the Halo series. The game was originally set for a Vita, IOS, and Android, but the KickStarter has brought the game to PC as well. With stretch goals, there may be hope of the game being brought to another system.

Check out the live action trailer below and be amazed at the return of Hifumi Kono to the survival horror genre.

Until Dawn Set to Bring Unrelenting Scares and a Branching Story

Until Dawn, made under the helm of Supermassive Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, is a Playstation 4 exclusive survival horror game that has a seemingly corny concept of 8 teens in a cabin on the anniversary of the death of one of their friends, only to find out that they are being stalked by a crazed serial kill. Original story? I don't think so, but the game offers many things to make the somewhat dated story have a more interested twist.

In most horror games, you get a game over screen when the character dies, but this is not the case with Until Dawn. The story branches off of the decisions the player makes. Deaths and everything can cause a variety of different things to happen, and from what can be read, the story is a horror story with the tenseness of games like Heavy Rain.

The makers are trying to give it a slightly more slasher movie feel by bringing on the likes of Hayden Panettiere (of Heros and Scream 4 fame) to deliver an authentic Slasher movie experience.

I myself love slashers, and the fact that this is offering a new view on the somewhat mundane "You are being hunted" genre of horror games, I have to say I will be preordering it, which you can also do from here.

Here is the official gameplay trailer for it, to wet you appetite for one of the best horror games coming out June, 2015.

The Silent Hills Concept Trailer Sets Up Another Blockbuster

I don't know what it is about horror that I love, but I can tell that Silent Hills, the game in development by Kojima with Guillermo del Toro as the film dirrector, will be a game to go down in history as one of the scariest games of all time. In part to the highly successful free horror game/ trailer for the PS4 only, titled P.T. You can find several thousand videos on YouTube regarding this game, and the terror it has generated is sure to help spur the Silent Hill franchise back to life. And with the footage from TGS 2014, they have me sold that this is going to be one of the scariest games ever made. You can find the trailer below.

2016 is going to be a great year for horror, and I hope that 2015 can be a amazing lead up to it.

'Alchemilla' Is the Next Great Silent Hill

As people around the world wait with baited breath for the next addition to the horror market with 'Silent Hills' a group of modders under the name of, from what we could find "Diolator", have released a mod trying to capture the vibe of the original Silent Hill games, and it seems to be going at a great success.

Alchemilla is a Half Life 2 mode using Source SDK 2013 and is a free download on the ModDB website. You do need Half Life 2, all the episodes, and Source SDK 2013 to play, and the developers are working to make it better, and if any problems come up, they are more than willing to help. I am personally looking forward to playing this game, and it is downloading as we speak. Below is the trailer. Be warned, the atmosphere is real.

*EDIT* At this point in time, it has been brought to my attention that it's only the demo, but it does set the tone perfectly for another awesome Silent Hill experience.
